TRANSMITTER POWER SUPPLIES

The shaft/component mounted transmitter needs a source of electrical power. In non-demanding (short duration) applications a shaft mounted battery unit is suitable, but for long term installation in demanding, inaccessible environments, inductive coupling is essential.

BATTERY POWER SUPPLY

For short duration measurement projects in undemanding environments, battery power for the transmitter provides a simple and low-cost solution. A benefit of battery power is that the maximum transmission range - the distance between the shaft and the stationary pickup - is greater than with inductively powered systems, typically 150-200mm.

  • BU31 - Standard battery unit

  • 65 x 30 x 20mm   46 grams

  • Matches TX31D transmitter

  • Attaches to shaft using CAK kit

  • On/off switch may be removed - then no electromechanical contacts

  • Sealed housing for 2 x 1/2 AA lithium cells. 7v @ 850mAH - typically 70+ hours life

  • Compact pickup IH1 may be used with battery powered transmitters
  • Shown with universal mounting clamp.

INDUCTIVE COUPLING POWER SUPPLY

Robust and impervious to operating conditions, inductive coupling is the standard method of powering the transmitter.  Electrical energy is transferred from a stationary inductive head or loop to a second, shaft mounted loop or pickup (IP2).  Simultaneously, measurement data is transmitted back across the same components.  Configurations to suit differing applications are easily produced using the standard interchangeable heads IH2, IH2/L or loop interface module IL2.

  • Inductive Head IH2 - replaces transmitter batteries

  • Long pole piece version IH2/L for shaft diameters >200mm

  • Incorporates signal pickup

  • Adjustable mounting bracket simplifies alignment

  • H 40mm x W 35mm x D 40mm including mounting bush

  • May also be used in end of shaft location

  • Inductive Loop Interface Module IL2 - replaces transmitter batteries

  • Supplied with pre-formed glass-fibre loops 40 - 200mm diameter

  • Airgap up to 90mm

  • Incorporates signal pickup

  • Non critical alignment

  • May also be used in end of shaft location

  • Compact  33 x 28 x 8mm Pickup - IP2, replaces on-shaft loop

  • Use with stationary loop and interface module IL2

  • Incorporates signal transmission

  • Attaches to shaft with CAK kit giving fast strap-on installation

  • Stationary loop may be shaped to accommodate large shaft displacements
